For many who grow up in rural Tennessee, self-sufficiency is a must. People are expected to care for themselves, and often neglect any health concerns they cannot treat themselves.
In addition, the culture of independence, poverty, and a lack of access to high-quality medical treatment, is also at work to make healthcare inaccessible to many rural Americans.
Fortunately, Remote Area Medical is there to help. This amazing organization is a volunteer, airborne medical relief corps that provides free health care to people in remote areas of the United States, and around the world.
Recently, a documentary was created about their three-day clinic, held at Tennessee’s Bristol Motor Speedway. Check out the trailer!
