Police Officer Helps A Homeless Man Reconnect With His Family

It is difficult enough when you are living on the streets but it is even more difficult when you know you have family but don’t know where to find them. Thanks to the Hillsboro Police Department, that is no longer an issue for one homeless man in Arizona.

The Police Department went on Facebook to share the moment. They said: “Scooter, pictured here and this story shared with his permission, found himself encountering some challenging times, which resulted in him experiencing homelessness. He connected with one of our crisis intervention team officers a few months ago looking for help finding his family.”

In the picture, you see Scooter standing with the Hillsboro police officer. That officer worked along with Scooter and a number of community partners to help him get his ID and to connect him with social services.

They were then able to contact his family in Arizona.

The pandemic has made life challenging for all of us and it can make it difficult for these types of issues to be resolved properly. At this time, Scooter has been reunited with his brother and he is now living with him.

The Police Department summed it up, saying: “The vital help of our community partners gave this story its happy ending and we appreciate their tireless efforts to help those in need.”

I love to write and it keeps me busy. I've been working online, full time since 1999.
