A revolutionary new vaccine could reduce malaria infections worldwide. In 2013, Malaria infected nearly 200 million people in and killed roughly 600,000, reports CBS News. Developed with funding support from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the vaccine is 30 percent effective against this parasitic disease, which is transmitted by mosquitoes. It’s the first vaccine effective against any parasite, and scientists expect its release in 2016.
